1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to ng-labs ("we", "us"), an independent Android app developer, and to every app we publish on Google Play under the ng-labs developer account, together with this website at ang-labs.com. It applies to all twelve listings shown in the table below, in both their free and Pro versions.
We do not run servers of our own. We do not operate user accounts, and there is no ng-labs login. Where information leaves your device at all, it goes to Google — as your advertising provider, your crash reporting provider, your payment processor, or your own Google Drive — and never to a system we control.
In this policy, personal information means information that identifies you or could reasonably be linked to you: your name, your email address, your date of birth, the names and birthdays of people you know, your contacts, messages, photos, precise location, or a persistent identifier tied to you as an individual.
2. At a glance, app by app
The detail follows, but this is the short version. "Leaves your device" means content you create in the app — a drawing, a note, a date.
| App | Shows ads | Crash reports | Google sign-in | Your content leaves the device |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magic Slate | Yes | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Magic Slate Pro | No | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Paint | Yes | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Magic Slate — Color & Draw | No | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Markers | Yes | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Kids Paint | No | Yes | No | Nothing you draw |
| Age Calculator | Yes | Yes | Optional | Only if you switch on Drive sync |
| Age Calculator Pro | No | Yes | Optional | Only if you switch on Drive sync |
| Date Calculator | No | Yes | No | Nothing |
| Date Calculator Pro | No | Yes | No | Nothing |
| Color Wallpaper | Yes | Yes | No | Nothing |
| Notepad — Quick Notes | No | Yes | No | Nothing you write |
Not every free app is ad-supported. Magic Slate — Color & Draw, Kids Paint, Date Calculator and Notepad — Quick Notes show no advertising at all, in any version. Where a free app does show ads, its Pro version does not, so no advertising SDK runs in the Pro build and no advertising data is collected from it.
3. What we never collect
We do not ask for, receive, or store any of the following, in any app, at any time:
- Your name, email address, postal address or phone number.
- Your contacts, call logs, SMS messages, calendar or photo library.
- Precise location. None of our apps request location permission.
- Payment card or bank details. When you buy a Pro app, Google handles the entire transaction and we never see your payment information.
- Health, biometric, financial or government identity information.
- Anything you draw, write, or calculate in our apps.
We also do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it to build profiles about you. We run no analytics SDK of our own: we do not measure which screens you open, how long you use an app, or what you do inside it.
4. Content you create stays on your device
Drawings in Magic Slate, Color & Draw, Paint, Markers and Kids Paint; notes and lists in Notepad; dates and results in Age Calculator and Date Calculator; wallpaper choices in Color Wallpaper — all of it is stored in the app's private storage on your phone, or in a location you choose when you export a file.
None of it is transmitted to ng-labs. We have no ability to read it, recover it, or restore it. The single exception is Age Calculator's optional Drive sync, described next, and there the destination is your own Google Drive rather than us.
Because this content lives only on your device, uninstalling an app generally deletes it. We cannot recover drawings or notes lost to an uninstall, a device reset, a lost phone or an app crash, so please export anything you want to keep.
5. Google Drive sync in Age Calculator
This is the only feature in any ng-labs app that involves signing in or sending data off your device. It is optional and switched off until you turn it on.
Age Calculator and Age Calculator Pro include a Family & Friends feature that lets you save the names and birthdays of people you care about, so the app can calculate their ages too. If you choose to enable Drive sync, that list can be backed up so it survives changing or resetting your phone.
What happens when you enable it
- You are asked to sign in with a Google account. The sign-in is handled by Google; we receive only the authorisation needed to store this app's own data file.
- Your Family & Friends list — the names and birthdays you entered — is written to your own Google Drive, under your own account and storage quota.
- ng-labs never receives, stores or reads this data. It travels between your device and your Drive. We operate no server in the middle, and we have no access to your Drive.
- The data is handled under Google's own privacy policy and the Google Drive terms that already apply to your account.
Your control over it
- You can use the entire app without ever signing in. Sync is not required.
- You can sign out at any time from within the app, which stops further syncing.
- You can delete the stored file from your Google Drive yourself, and you can revoke the app's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Because the data is in your Drive and not with us, we cannot delete it on your behalf — but equally, we cannot read it.
Please note that the names and birthdays you enter are other people's personal information. You are responsible for having a proper basis to record them, and for only entering details you are entitled to keep.
6. Advertising
Some of our free apps show advertisements, and this is how development across the whole portfolio is funded. Ads are delivered by Google AdMob, a Google service. We do not sell ad space directly and we have no relationship with individual advertisers.
Advertising appears only in the free versions of Magic Slate, Paint, Markers, Age Calculator and Color Wallpaper. It does not appear in Magic Slate — Color & Draw, Kids Paint, Date Calculator and Notepad — Quick Notes, nor in any Pro version. In an app with no ads, no advertising SDK is initialised and nothing described in the rest of this section happens at all.
What AdMob receives
To select and measure an ad, AdMob may process information from your device, including your Android advertising ID, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your device model and operating system version, and information about your interaction with the ad. This happens inside Google's SDK. We do not receive this information, and it is not passed to us in a form that identifies you.
Your consent and your choices
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our apps show a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before personalised ads are used. You can choose non-personalised ads, and you can reopen that choice later from within the app.
- On any Android device you can limit or reset your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting your advertising ID stops apps from receiving one at all.
- The surest way to see no ads from us is to install the Pro version of an app, where no advertising SDK runs.
Google's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
7. Crash and stability reporting
Our apps include Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so that when an app crashes we find out and can fix it. Without it, a crash that affects thousands of people can go unnoticed for months.
A crash report contains technical information about the failure, such as:
- The stack trace — which line of our code failed and how it got there.
- Your device model, operating system version and available memory.
- The app version and how long it had been running.
- A randomly generated installation identifier, used to tell one crashing installation apart from another and to count how many devices an issue affects.
Crash reports do not contain your drawings, notes, dates, names, email address or contacts. We use them only to diagnose and fix faults, and we do not attempt to identify individual users from them. Crashlytics is covered by Google's privacy policy and by the Firebase privacy and security documentation.
8. Purchases and the Pro apps
Some apps have a Pro version — currently Magic Slate Pro, Age Calculator Pro and Date Calculator Pro. A Pro version contains the same features as the free version; it removes the advertising and supports continued development.
Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. Google collects and handles your payment details under its own terms. We receive an anonymised, aggregated sales report from the Play Console — order counts, countries, amounts — and never your card number, billing address or full name. We cannot process a payment, issue a charge, or look up your payment method.
Refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play refund policy. See our Terms of Use for more on that.
9. Children's privacy and Kids Paint
Kids Paint is a drawing app for young children and participates in Google Play's Designed for Families programme. It is therefore treated as directed to children, and stricter rules apply to it than to our other apps.
How Kids Paint is handled
- It collects no personal information from children. There is no sign-in, no name field, no email field and no profile.
- Drawings stay on the device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- It shows no advertising of any kind. No advertising SDK runs in Kids Paint, so no advertising identifier is read, no interest profile is built, and nothing about the child reaches an ad network.
- There is no in-app purchase and no payment flow in the app.
- There is no social feature, no chat, no user-generated content sharing and no external link out of the drawing surface other than standard store and policy links.
Our other apps
Our other apps are general-audience apps and are not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in them. Magic Slate is widely used by parents and teachers for handwriting practice; it collects no personal information from anyone, so this raises no additional issue.
If you are a parent or guardian
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information — which, given the above, should not be possible — contact us at ng.labs108@gmail.com and we will investigate and delete anything found. We comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code and Google Play's Families policy to the extent they apply to our apps.
10. Permissions our apps request
We ask for as few Android permissions as an app can function with, and each one is tied to a feature you can see. Where a permission is optional, declining it disables only that feature and not the app.
- Internet and network state — used to send crash reports in every app; to load ads in the ad-supported free apps; and in Age Calculator to reach Google Drive if you enable sync. In an app with no ads, it is used for crash reporting alone.
- Photos and media, or storage — requested by the drawing apps only when you save a drawing to your gallery, or open one of your own pictures to draw on. We read only the file you pick.
- Set wallpaper — requested by Color Wallpaper in order to apply the colour you choose.
- Notifications — where an app offers reminders, used only to show reminders you set yourself.
- Google account access — requested by Age Calculator only if you enable Drive sync, and limited to this app's own data file.
The permission list for any app is shown on its Google Play listing before you install, and can be reviewed or revoked afterwards in your device settings.
11. Your rights and choices
Because we hold no personal information about you, most data rights have nothing for us to act on — there is no account to access, export or close. We have set the apps up this way deliberately. You can still exercise the following:
- Advertising — change your consent choice in the app (EEA, UK and Switzerland), reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings, or install a Pro version.
- Google Drive sync — sign out in Age Calculator, delete the file from your Drive, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Crash reporting — uninstalling the app stops it. If you would like a specific installation identifier purged, write to us and we will ask Google to delete the associated reports.
- On-device content — delete it in the app, or uninstall the app.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Our legal basis for showing personalised ads is your consent, collected through the UMP form and withdrawable at any time; our basis for crash reporting is our legitimate interest in keeping the apps working.
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights of access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal. Write to the address in section 17 and we will respond within the period the Act requires.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended gives you rights to know, delete and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not offer financial incentives for data.
You may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office; in India, the Data Protection Board.
12. Retention and deletion
- Content in the apps — kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. We hold no copy and impose no retention period.
- Family & Friends data synced to Drive — kept in your Google Drive until you delete it. It is subject to your own Google account settings.
- Crash reports — retained by Firebase Crashlytics according to Google's retention schedule, which is currently 90 days for detailed reports.
- Advertising data — retained by Google under its own policies. We hold none of it.
- Emails you send us — support correspondence is kept in our mailbox for as long as needed to deal with the issue and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference. Ask us and we will delete a thread.
13. Security
The strongest security measure in our apps is that they hold almost nothing. There is no ng-labs database to breach, no account credentials to leak and no server of ours holding your content.
Where data does move — to AdMob, to Crashlytics, to your Google Drive — it travels over encrypted connections and is protected by Google's infrastructure. Our apps are signed and distributed only through Google Play; we do not publish APKs elsewhere, and an ng-labs app obtained from a third-party site is outside our control and may have been modified.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We are also not responsible for the loss of drawings, notes or other content, as explained in section 4 and in our Terms of Use.
14. International transfers
ng-labs is based in India. The services our apps rely on — Google AdMob, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Play Billing and Google Drive — are operated by Google and process data on servers in several countries, including the United States. Those transfers are made under Google's own safeguards, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. Because we receive no personal information ourselves, we make no international transfer of your data.
15. This website
ang-labs.com is a static website. It sets no tracking cookies, runs no analytics, and has no advertising, comment system or contact form. There is nothing on this site that identifies you.
Two small things are stored in your browser's local storage for your own convenience: your light or dark theme choice. It never leaves your browser and we cannot read it.
Our web host, Firebase Hosting, keeps standard server request logs, which may include IP addresses, as part of operating and securing the service. We use fonts served by Google Fonts, which receives a request from your browser when a page loads. Links to Google Play, YouTube, Twitter/X and Facebook take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our apps change, when a service we rely on changes, or when the law requires it. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how your information is handled, we will make that clear — in the app, on the Play listing, or both — rather than changing the page quietly.
Continuing to use our apps after an update means you accept the revised policy.
17. Contact us
Questions about this policy, a privacy request, or anything else about our apps go to one person, not a support queue:
Please put "Privacy" in the subject line so it is not missed. We aim to respond within a few days, and within any period required by the law that applies to you.
